WALTHALL COUNTY DAIRY FESTIVAL

Walthall County’s Dairy Festival is the oldest and biggest One-day event in the county.  The Dairy
Festival is always the first Saturday in June. It began 30 years ago as a way for Dairymen to say thank you
to the community. The all day event is staged at Holmes Water Park and attracts thousands of visitors each
year.  Activities are non-stop.  Everybody gets into the act, from churches and civic groups to area
businesses.  The event includes a Dairy Festival Queen pageant, baby contests, mooing contest, arts and
crafts, plenty of food and concessions and many other family activities.  Free milk and ice cream,
compliments of  Walthall dairy farmers, are special treats. The world famous Dairy Festival Turtle Races
have become a must-see event for practically everyone in the county.  A butter churning contest, sack races
and other activities are held at the festival. Plenty of musical entertainment goes on between events, and the
day slows down in the evening for a gospel sing under the trees prior to the conclusion of the festival, a
giant fireworks display.

The Dairy Fest has been described by out-of-town media as one of the best old-time festivals in existence.
There’s no admission charge and all of the games and contests are free.
