Jersey reached out and gave our town a big, warm, powerful hug at a time that it was desperately needed. Howell
shows that they are a community vested in helping others in need. The Emergency Management Services Team
worked diligently to raise approximately $100,000 to help hurricane victims. They kindly adopted Tylertown, MS and
contacted our Mayor, Fire Chief, and Police Chief, among others. Steve, Mike, and Danny made the 20-hour trip
from New Jersey and delivered goods and supplies in (2) 18-wheeler trucks. While here, they met with our Mayor,
Fire Chief, Police Chief, Assistant Police Chief, and others. Their Police Department outfitted our Police Department
in much needed new gear. Their Fire Department has donated over $18,000 for equipment that our fire department
desperately needed. Susan Dominguez, the Executive Director of the Howell Chamber of Commerce, worked with
Jewel Greer, from the Division of Human Services to help our local residents in need. Howell, NJ purchased $6,000
of Thanksgiving dinners from the Piggly Wiggly and Sunflower food stores which not only provided much
appreciated dinners. On a separate occasion Susan worked with Jewel and another $ 8,000 worth of dinners was
purchased from Sunflower and Piggly Wiggly to help those families in need. This also helped our local groceries
during a time that all businesses were not operating at the capacity prior to the hurricane. During the holidays
Howell, NJ adopted over 90 families that were in need, Tylertown residents and evacuees living in our community.
The kind and generous folks of Howell, NJ will forever be in our hearts and prayers.

Doctor jumps into charity work with both feet
Our world here in Mississippi and Louisiana is forever changed by the devastation that Hurricane Katrina left in her
wake. Some of us have been displaced, or have family or friends displaced, possibly still living with us. We are still
at a point where when we talk about all the misfortunes that people we know have suffered, we still shed many tears.
The effects which Hurricane Katrina had on our community are indescribable. Not only did she affect the community
as a whole, but each individual, male or female, from 1 month to 100 years old has had mind-boggling problems
with which to deal.
Through all the anguish we have truly been amazed and humbled by the concern of people throughout the country
who have been willing to give of themselves to help us in any way they possibly could. There is no way to
adequately thank people for their outpouring of time and donations to aid us in our time of need.
The chamber of commerce, fire departments, police department and citizens of the city of Howell, New Jersey, came
to our aid early in the recovery process with two trailer loads of needed supplies for our citizens.
We sincerely thank you for your thoughts, prayers and generosity. Your help has been invaluable and will never be
forgotten.
