Board Meetings
As mandated by State statute, the Board of Supervisors meets on the first Monday and on the Wednesday two weeks following the first Monday meeting. Both meetings start promptly at 9 a.m.. The Board Meeting Room is located on the first floor of the Walthall County Courthouse. If a regular scheduled meeting falls on a holiday or a weekend, the Board meets on the closest working day. The Board also schedules additional meetings as they deem necessary to handle pertinent County business and in the case of emergencies. Meetings of the Board of Supervisors are open to the general public. If you wish to appear before the Board of Supervisors to discuss an important matter pertaining to the county, please notify the Chancery Clerk no later than noon of the day preceding the Board meeting. Any backup information and/or exhibits pertaining to the matter you wish to discuss should be delivered to the Chancery Clerk by the same deadline. (601) 876-4947 ext. 10 The county comptroller carries out the policies adopted by the Board of Supervisors and supervises the board and other divisions of county government. The comptroller prepares the budget for consideration by the Board of Supervisors and advises the board as to the possible availability of federal or state grants and assistance for which the county may be eligible. The comptroller also secures insurance coverage for the county and receives inquiries and complaints from citizens of the county, investigates such inquiries and complaints, and reports his or her finding to the board. He or she meets regularly with the Board of Supervisors and has full privileges of discussion, but no vote. |
