WIN Job Centers
On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a program that assists employers in training new employees. The employee cannot have any prior experience in the job for which training is developed. Employers utilizing OJT may be reimbursed up to 50 percent (50%) of the wage rate of the new employee to cover the cost of training and supervision. The maximum time that an employer can be reimbursed is based on the skill level of the job and the content of the training. To participate an employer must:

SWMCC Training Center
The newly constructed $6,000,000 Regional Workforce Training Center opened in the fall of 2012 on the campus of Southwest MS Community College. The Center, serving Amite, Pike, Walthall and Wilkinson Counties, offers a variety of services regarding careers, workforce, training and education. The Industrial Services Program at Southwest MS Community College provides assistance to new and existing businesses and industries in meeting their technical training requirements. The Industrial Services Program offers:
- Pre-Employment customized training is provided to applicants before they are hired. This training is to prepare trainees for immediate placement in new jobs.
- Post-Employment Customized on-the-job Training (COTJ) programs are conducted after employees have been hired. This training provides job specific training.
- Retraining and Upgrade customized retraining is developed for existing company employees to meet changing skill requirements due to new technology. Upgrade training consists of training designed to assist employees in advancing from one job level to another.
