Holmes Water Park is located in the middle of Tylertown and meandering along the sandy banks of scenic Magee's Creek is the paved walking trail known simply as "The Trail of Seven Bridges".
Paddlers put in at the Water Park or some downstream at the Lexie Bridge. From there, a trip to the take-out at the Dillon Bridge is six miles. Running a little slower and wider, this stretch of the creek is an easy paddle. Sandbars are more numerous here than upstream and there are more pools for swimming. The pavilion and the outdoor stage are available for parties and adjacent Camper Hookups are available at the Southwest Events Center for groups of 10 or more. Birding enthusiasts interested in experiencing the many wonderful bird families in Walthall County have plenty to see, as our county is know to have over 300 species of birds. Many of the local parks, rivers, creeks, and lakes are great places to visit for a glimpse of interesting birds and other beautiful wildlife. Walker's Bridge is profiled on the United States Geological Service (USGS) Progress Topological map and considered a top location for bird watching in the State of Mississippi.
Fishing is plentiful in Walthall County where the Bogue Chitto River, Lake Walthall, Magee's Creek, and numerous ponds, creeks and streams provide sportsman a "good catch" all year with everything from bream and crappie to catfish and bass.
Walthall County, through which Magees Creek and a section of the nearby Bogue Chitto River flows, is a dry county and rules against possession of alcohol beverages are strictly enforced.

Hunting is a favorite sport in Walthall County where deer, quail, dove, turkey and small game are plentiful. Walthall County is a Hunters' Haven and a variety of hunting options are available. Magee's Creek is a popular destination for those that like canoe outings. Located only a 90-minute drive from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Jackson - Magees Creek is an easy day trip. Time after time, paddlers are drawn back by the beauty of the creek and the tall, leafy hardwoods.
One of the trips paddlers can take is 13 miles, takes about seven hours and begins at the Holmes Water Park in Tylertown. Each spring, veteran paddlers and livery owners join forces to remove the worst of the blow-downs and snags clogging the stream. However, there are numerous stumps just below the surface, and there are sharp turns on the trip, making it a challenge for experienced and novice paddlers alike.
