Have your own equipment?Magee's Creek is a popular destination for those that like canoe outings. Located only a 90-minute drive from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Jackson - Magees Creek is an easy day trip. Time after time, paddlers are drawn back by the beauty of the creek and the tall, leafy hardwoods.
One of the trips paddlers can take is 13 miles, takes about seven hours and begins at the Holmes Water Park in Tylertown. Each spring, veteran paddlers and livery owners join forces to remove the worst of the blow-downs and snags clogging the stream. However, there are numerous stumps just below the surface, and there are sharp turns on the trip, making it a challenge for experienced and novice paddlers alike. |
